Alena Foustkova

alena_foustkova_crop-1.jpgAlena teaches the module 'Advertising and Promotion in Business' at Prague College. Originally from the Czech Republic, she is also a Canadian passport holder, having lived for many years in Toronto.

Alena graduated with an MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 1982, specializing in Printmaking. Later she worked in Toronto in various advertising agencies serving a range of clients from the banking sector to the Canadian government. In 1995 Alena was offered a position with Saatchi & Saatchi in the Czech Republic and decided to move with her family back to Prague. She has worked for over 25 years in the advertising industry, and her experience includes both national and multinational advertising agencies. Her list of clients ranges from the Canadian Ministry of Education, American Express, Toyota, Peugeot, Komerční Banka (Societé General), Opavia (LU), and Nestlé to small private businesses. As Senior Art Director and Creative Director, her work has won numerous Czech and international awards. Alena's main interest is in communication strategies and creative outcome of the campaigns.

Apart from teaching, Alena currently works as a full-time artist and exhibits her work on a regular basis, focusing on communication and the media. In addition, she has also illustrated and designed several books. She currently teaches at several international universities, including lecturing online to university students in Lebanon. She also sits on the Academic Board of UNYP.

She devotes some of her free time to volunteer organisations for new immigrants to the Czech Republic.
