The Foundation Diploma in Art & Design enabled me to create my portfolio

Ksenia Yuzhaninova from Novosibirsk in Russia decided to change her study path and moved to Prague for the BA (Hons) Graphic Design at Prague College.

How did you come across Prague College?

I started studying architecture in Russia but I didn't finish my degree because I wasn't sure about it and didn't want to waste a few more years to complete it. So I decided to change my life. I moved to Prague and started looking for a school to study. I found Prague College and started off with the Foundation Year in Art & Design. This programme is for students who lack the standard entry requirements to university or for those who would like to improve their skills and qualifications for either work or future studies. It enabled me to create portfolio which is a requirement to start a degree programme at Prague College. After taking Foundation Diploma year I was ready to apply for BA (Hons) Graphic Design. Now I will be entering second year of it.

Did you enjoy the Foundation Diploma?

It was fun, I met lot of new people. The atmosphere, and lecturers were great. We touched various aspects of design, we were experimenting. I learned about programs like Photoshop and Adobe programs for designers, before that I never worked with them.

What is studying at Prague College like?

I like the lecturers teaching here, they are nice, friendly and helpful.  In Russia studying is very strict; you can't move right or left, you have to do exactly what they tell you to do. At Prague College you get lot of freedom, it's up to you what you choose to do and how you organize it, people here are open minded.

Who is Graphic Design for?

I can't really say who it is for but I think Graphic Design is imagination and inspiration, the commercial part of it is important.
