Jazz Talk

Jazz has a reputation for being somewhat esoteric; the goal of this workshop is to expose the truth that jazz can be appreciated and enjoyed by everyone.

The workshop will begin by identifying and defining some of the key characteristics of the large and encompassing genre jazz.  An historical timeline looking at the evolution of jazz from its heterogeneous origins to the many incarnations of jazz being played today will be presented by highlighting some of the cardinal iconic jazz performers within their respective contextualised periods.

An exciting follow-up activity is being offered by Student Council where students will meet at the Jazz Dock to listen to a live jazz performance.
