“This Way Up”

by admin, on 22 March 2016 00:00:00 CET

The BA (Hons) Graphic Design final show’s theme is “This Way Up,” and the concept represents the young designers as “mail packaging” products, including bubble wrapper, tape, heavy-duty paper and other artifacts which represent packaging.

The theme comes from the idea that students can now officially start their careers and move up professionally in the world of graphic design. The identity features playing with words where each promotional material has a different name, but they all consistently fit together. The students working on the project were inspired by industrial and Swiss design, and the identity features a simple, strong typographic approach, using the color orange to refer back to Prague College’s school’s color. Using unconventional material such as organic paper and bubble wrapper was a conscious choice to have the identity playful and creative.

The final products of the students’ work exhibited at AF BKK Gallery will include projects such as promotional material for an association that helps people with autism, a design project which explores the cultural background of Western Slavs, an identity for a motion design company, a personal approach to dream visualisation, an art exhibition project that supports suburban young artists and communities in Prague, and fishing and boating applications for the Australian market, among many other interesting projects.

Grand opening is on 17 May at 6 pm.
