New three-year Bachelor's programme in Creative Media Production

Prague College has recently refreshed and expanded its Bachelor's programme in Creative Media, and we are delighted to welcome filmmaker and lecturer Maia Horniak as programme leader.

With degrees in fine arts and filmmaking from universities in the Czech Republic, Denmark and Australia, Maia brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her passion for teaching and course development. Her award-winning TV dramas and short films have been screened at festivals all over the world, including Brooklyn, Sydney and Cannes, and she has won high praise for her work from the industry as a whole.

Maia, what is your vision for students on this programme?

’It's really a five point strategy. As far as writing goes, I want to help them become excellent and exciting storytellers, able to connect to multiple audiences.  This skill set also embraces pitching, project and grant proposals. 

Then there's the whole concept of building a unique voice through which to 'sell' yourself, creating a strong portfolio with which to enter the workplace. 

As with all programmes at Prague College, we'll be bringing in guest lecturers of real renown and prestige, starting on 16 May with our first 'Meet Your Mentors' event, which we're really excited about. 

These days students need to emerge from college with a wide range of production and post-production skills in camerawork, sound and music editing and graphics/VFX. We will make sure you have those skills and more!

Finally, working with talent. How do you direct actors? How do you conjure up what you want from them? How do you conduct an investigative interview or work with a team? Effectively, how do you build connective tissue with other human being'
