The event took place at the Odeon West End Leicester Square in the heart of London. In an event spread over two consecutive mornings, speakers showed their work on the big screen, talked about their influences and the challenges of working in such a demanding and exciting field.
Graphic Design Programme Leader Simon Gray, who organised the trip, prepared a number of inspiring optional activities. Students went to visit the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, the Tate Modern and still had some time for sightseeing and exploring the city.
Read more about the outstanding speakers here:
Paul Davis, one of the UK's most outstanding illustrators, setting a Visual style that is much imitated but never truly replicated.
David Hillman, the UK's pre-eminent editorial designer.
Jack Renwick, design agency The Partners.
Tom Roope, who's client list over the years has to be one of the most enviable you could imagine, including as it does Sony, Underworld, V&A, Massive Attack, Levi's, Guinness, MTV, Nike, Coca-Cola, McLaren F1 and - very recently - Bon Jovi. He's won D&AD, BIMA and Cannes Gold and been invited to judge design and creative competitions all over the world.
