Aleksandar Borisov, a graduate of the MSc International Management programme at Prague College and now a specialist at the IT company, CSC, reveals what it's like to study and work in Prague and how his life has changed after graduation.

Aleksandar moved to Prague from Bulgaria with his family when he was 17. He completed his secondary education at English College in Prague where he received his International Baccalaureate (IB). Aleksandar then studied at all levels at Prague College starting with the two-year HND programme, advancing to the Bachelor programme and completing his MSc in International Management in 2010.

While Aleksandar worked during his studies, his professional experience really started to build up after his completion of the Master’s programme. He says that his studies have prepared him to understand the key areas of business such as marketing, management, and customer service. The diversity of Prague College students and staff members also helped him to easily adapt to an international environment and deal with people from many cultures.

We asked Aleksandar what it is like to work at CSC, an international company which has more than 500 employees in Prague’s central office.

“My job is to hadle various customer requests and resolve their IT related issues. I deal only with customers from the UK, as each IT customer service team deals with a specific geographic region. When on the job, I always try to put myself in the shoes of the customers, how they would like to be treated and what information they are looking for. I really had to develop good negotiation and persuasion skills as well as understand human psychology to become effective in my position. It is all about the attitude and what you can do to help the people. This job is really for someone who enjoys working with people, enjoys multitasking, and is resilent to stress. I cannot say that I had developed all these skills prior to working at CSC, but CSC provided us with many trainings to aquire these, also just doing the job and learning from the experience has been very helpful to aquire new knowldege and grow professionally.“

Aleksandar was recently recognised as employee of the month based on a customer satisfication survey and is aspiring high to move up the company chain. His next plan is to sign up for the Business Graduate Programme which is a selective work experience programme that chooses highly qualified employees who can offer specific skills to companies in the UK.
