Prague College hosted its annual Graduation Ceremony on Saturday 9 November at Vinohrady's Narodni Dum. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of 145 new graduates of Prague College's Bachelor's and Master's programmes, from the schools of Art & Design, Business and IT & Computing.
Students and staff attending this year's ceremony were honoured to be addressed by Professor Caroline MacDonald, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Teesside University, Prague College's partner in the UK. Ms MacDonald emphasized the important ties between the two universities, and urged the graduating class to review the creative contribution they could make to the world during the continuing period of economic instability.
Eleven students were singled out for excellence in learning, including Michele Nuovo (BSc Computing) and Katerina Haskova (BA International Management), both of whom gave inspirational speeches to the assembled graduates and their families. "Every day we discover something new," Katerina told us, "The human being is curious and never done learning; that is what helps us achieve our goals and fulfil our dreams."
This was also an opportunity to honour lecturers and administrative staff for their dedication and commitment. During the course of the ceremony, awards were presented to Paul Cooper, Jorge Carrillo and Jorge Boehringer for excellence in teaching, and to Veronika Dostalova for outstanding all-round performance.
