Creative Writing

A Prague College Summer School class with Jana ZilovaJana Zilova-1.jpg

Monday to Friday
12 June to 27 June

This course is developed along three main rationales: 1) to present theoretical models and methods of the writing practice; 2) to equip students with essential toolkits and skills for variety of their writing endeavours and 3) to inspire students to integrate the knowledge and craft explored throughout the course into their own creative practice, whether professional or personal. To support this endeavour we will address writing from the theoretical background as well as through the direct practice.

Students will learn techniques to research and brainstorm ideas, plotlines, characters, settings, etc., to articulate their own creative projects and portfolios relevant to their practice, to explore and directly apply styles of drafting, editing, and final production, to craft confident forms of writing within their selected scope of fiction and/or nonfiction.

Through creative teamwork and workshops we will study a wide variety of genres encompassing short stories, scripts, novels, haiku, art journalism pieces, film reviews, design articles that will serve as springboards for critical and creative exploration. Students are equally encouraged to bring and share their own  ideas to the class.
