Terrorism is a violent strategy used by various people and groups to achieve a certain goal. But why does a terrorist attack happen? And what are the consequences? Vladimir is going to talk about two of the biggest tragedies that happened on the Caucasus, Beslan and Nalchik.
September 1, 2004, a school is besieged by terrorists. The siege lasted for three days and over 1,100 people were held as hostages (777 of them were children) The siege ended with 334 people dead. Vladimir talks about how police forces were dealing with terrorists and what happened after.
From the 13-14 October, 2005 a raid on Nalchik occurred. A number of buildings associated with the Russian security forces were targeted. More than 100 people were killed, and there were riots all over the city. Vladimir was a kid when this happened. At the time, he was with his mother in a cab that had been attacked by terrorist. Vladimir talks about what happens during these moments and how the government reacted.
Koba Liklikadze also talks about his own terrorist encounter. The former president of Georgia was the target of an assassination attempt in 1998. Liklikadze was working on a report of the attempt at the time.
