We have a brand new playlist for you, this time by Ali who is representing the anime and weeb community at Prague College! What is weeb, you ask? It's short for weeaboo, which is a person who loves anime and/or Japanese culture. This can be 100% you, or just a new genre to explore. Open your heart for some hyperactive, fun songs. Give it a try!
"You were expecting a proper introduction, but it was me.. DIO. Just kidding. I’m an anime fan from Turkey who also happens to be in 3rd year of Graphic Design.
I’ve always been the silent type in the parties who suddenly got talkative whenever someone mentioned the word “anime”. Yes, I’m that guy. So, when I was asked to curate a playlist, I got my chance to introduce the students of Prague College to anime and perhaps a bit of weeb culture as well.
So, what’s in this playlist? Well, all songs represent one anime. Due to copyright from Japan, some of them are covers of the original song such as Berserk’s “Tell me why”. But it’s a very good cover I’m sure Berserk fans won’t mind it. The playlist starts with Dragon Ball Z, which I think is the most valuable anime in the list. It is an obvious cult classic that had to be in the list. It is the anime that gave birth to Shonen anime genre. Next, there are some more songs from popular anime series such as Attack on Titan, One Piece, Fairy Tail, Bleach and Sword Art Online. I don’t watch all of these but it is undeniable that they are proper representations of the world of anime. However, I didn’t limit myself to only extremely popular ones so I put songs from Nurarihyon No Mago, Great Teacher Onizuka, Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad and Hajime no Ippo.
The anime genres in the list are quite mixed but they are all decent songs. I always listen anime songs when I’m making a project or doing an assignment as all these songs give such an enormous energy that it makes me stay focused. During the pandemic the value of these songs increased a lot for me. Most of them have positive vibes and they are energetic so they also helped me to stay motivated and happy.
When you are looking at the list you might notice there is 1 anime that has 2 songs and that is JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. I started this anime in my first year at Prague College and reached final season in my 3rd year so it represents my journey, in a way. It is an extraordinary anime that I would recommend to everyone but the reason I have 2 songs is because this anime has, probably, the most diverse and iconic music of all time, at least for me. So putting only 1 type of music for that anime would have been a bad representation. The first song is from the 1st season of the anime and the 2nd one is from the final season.
