Creative Coffee Culture

by Lucia Ott, on Feb 26, 2018 2:10:58 PM

Sometimes it seems like a creative head can’t work without coffee. Whether you're a  student or teacher at Prague College, coffee is a common start to the new day. But besides the habitual morning coffee, spending a day in a café can be a wonderful part of a creative process. And in this respect Prague is a great city to discover an inspiring coffee culture.

letka.jpgIn the hip district of Prague 7 you can find the beautiful Cafe Letka. It is obviously a very trendy spot, but which is very charming at the same time. When the sunlight falls on the rustic walls and the contrasting colours of the impressive window arches shine bright, you don’t want to leave this place ever again. You can enjoy great coffee from Five Elephant (Berlin), eat lovingly presented snacks and sweets, or just drink a good Czech beer. The heavy wooden tables are perfect to place your sketchbook and laptop, so you can start getting inspired for the next project. When you finished your last coffee or your spicy chai latte, you may want to follow the sun to the nearby park. It is perfect to end the coffee-break with a relaxing walk through Letná-Park, that offers an amazing view over the river and its city.

laboheme.jpgIf you are searching for a special coffee experience next to Prague College, La Boheme Cafe is the place to go. Here you can taste, what high quality coffee real means. It is a collective of coffee experts, that is lead by the coffee pioneer Charles Fleer. Their aim is to improve coffee quality and the production standards globally.
On their website (www.labohemecafe.eu) Fleer says:
“Coffee quality to La Boheme is defined by the coffee’s sweetness, cleanliness, transparency and uniqueness. But our criteria for our partner farmers does not stop there, it is based on the farmers commitment to excellence, as this must be on par with mine. The commitment to grow and process the best quality coffee and accomplish it in a sustainable and respectful way. This includes the treatment of the workers on the farm, the cleanliness of their mill and the protection of the environment where the farm coexists. All of these factors play an important role when we choose our direct trade relationships.”
So if you are interested in the result of this project, stop over at the showroom in Vinohrady and enjoy a cup of excellent coffee.

vlese.jpgEven if coffee is not its most obvious focus , Café V Lese cannot be missing from this series. Young people from all around the city come here mainly to spend a nice evening with good drinks and a broad cultural offering. The café is located in the popular little street, Krymska. Although it doesn’t look like this at first sight, the road is full of creative spots. The fact that The New York Times honored it as one of the "Favorite Streets in 12 European Cities", shows that Krymska has long ceased to be an insider’s tip, and has a lot to offer. And Café V Lese was the starting point of this success story. Besides the cosy bar and café space with the atmosphere of a hidden forest, a music club underneath is also a part of the Café. Since its opening in 2010, it is a famous meeting area for people to enjoy everything from concerts to theatrical performances. So if you are curious about upcoming events, you can check out their website or facebook page and may experience an inspiring evening full of creative input there soon.
