Dima Strapchev is an art director and design consultant at branding company Hrivnak, based in Prague. He completed his BA (Hons) in Graphic Design at Prague College
"Before studying at the college, I was working as a graphic designer in my hometown of Odessa. I was looking for a graphic design course in Ukraine, but couldn't find any suitable course. Even though there were graphic design courses in local art schools, their curriculum seem to be outdated. I started to look for design course abroad and besides many options I found Prague College, which seem much more affordable at that time.
Studying at Prague College helped me to understand the graphic design discipline better and its role in society. It helped me to get onto next level of graphic design, abstracting from aesthetic qualities, and focusing more on conceptual thinking about design and it also helped to unlock my creativity.
My best memories of college are about meeting and working with excellent tutors and students from all over the world on many interesting projects. And one of the special things about the college is its friendly lively atmosphere to which I got totally addicted!"
Dima plans to continue designing, focusing more on social projects. He'd like to travel and live in different parts of the world. "I think that work is not a place," he adds, "it's more a state of mind.”
Special thanks to Dima, who designed the Prague College website launched on the occasion of out 10th anniversary in 2014, working to a concept developed by our BA (Hons) Fine Art Experimental Media graduate, Tihana Valent.
