School of Media & IT Faculty

The School of Media & IT uniquely combines technical learning and conceptual creativity – a blend that is reflected in the expertise of our faculty. On the IT side, we have a particular interest in problem-solving, whether in programming or multimedia, while our Media specialists have backgrounds in documentary film-making, writing and journalism.

Dr Veronika Douchova
DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF MEDIA & IT

Veronika is Dean of the School of Media & IT, with research and pedagogical interests in mathematics and its application in IT, as well as adult pedagogy and current trends in teaching delivery. Veronika studied Mathematics and Descriptive Geometry at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, and in 2023 was awarded her Ph.D. at the Department of Logic at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University.

Maia Horniak
PROGRAMME LEADER

Maia is in charge of the BA (Hons) Creative Media Production programme. She has directed many award-winning short films, a television movie, several documentaries, commercials, and music videos. Her short films have had international success, screening at over thirty esteemed international film festivals including Sydney, Palm Springs, Milan, Brooklyn, Brussels, Edmonton, Flickerfest and Cannes.

Dr Masa Hilcisin
PRINCIPAL LECTURER
Masa Hilcisin, Ph.D. is a filmmaker, producer, lecturer and scholar, who has been working at Prague City University since 2009. She holds a BA in Comparative Literature, an MA in European Studies, and a PhD from Masaryk University.

Associate Professor Radek Honzík
PROGRAMME LEADER
Doc. Mgr. et Mgr. Radek Honzík, Ph.D. is Programme Leader for MSc Computing. He holds Master’s degrees in Mathematics and English Language, and Logic and Computational Linguistics, as well as a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University. For three years he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Kurt Gödel Research Center for Mathematical Logic in Vienna. His research has been published in distinguished international journals including Annals of Pure and Applied Logic, and the Israel Journal of Mathematics.

Dr Gramoz Çubreli
PRINCIPAL LECTURER

Gramoz teaches Mathematics for Computing and Programming Fundamentals along with administrative responsibilities for the Bachelor's Computing programme. Originally from Kosovo, he has a multidisciplinary background which includes a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a triple Master's degree in Physics and Applications, Biotechnology and Chemistry from École Normale Supérieure de Cachan in France and Molecular Nano and Biophotonics for telecommunications and biotechnologies at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Liberec.

PRINCIPAL LECTURER
David Petryca, MA is responsible for the BSc (Hons) Computing Distance Learning programme and has been teaching web design and development classes at PCU since 2004.

Dr Bohus Ziskal
PRINCIPAL LECTURER
Bohus has over ten years' teaching experience: as a guest lecturer he has taught at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Czech Technical University (ČVUT) and at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague.

PRINCIPAL LECTURER

Pascal has a degree in Cinema from the University of Sorbonne III, as well as DNAP (National Art Degree) and DNSAP (National Superior Art Degree) from the Academy of Art in Aix-en-Provence.

Leah is originally from the USA where she graduated magna cum laude from Ripon College, Wisconsin, double-majoring in History and English literature. Leah lectures in the School of Media & IT and School of Business.

Robert Carrithers combines English language teaching skills with his creative talents and personal experience of the creative scenes in New York, Berlin and Prague, through writing, film and photography.

Eva Papouskova is an author of screenplays, books and playscripts, whose wide experience of the creative industry extends from writing highly-praised books for children in Czech, to collaborating with (among others) Oscar-winning director Malcolm Clarke.

Associate Lecturer
Zdeněk Sloboda graduated in Journalism and Media Studies at Charles University in Prague. He is teaching theoretical modules on culture and media at PCU.

ASSOCIATE LECTURER
Patrick finished his MSc in Computer Science in 2014. Since 2015 he has taught Computer Systems at Prague City University. His main focus is on system security, open-source systems, computer ethics, Internet and privacy issues.

Ahmet is from Izmir, Turkey. As well as teaching for the Media & IT faculty at Prague City University, Ahmet works as a Global Integration Lead for a large international corporate.

Dr Yelena Trofimova
ASSOCIATE LECTURER

Yelena's interests are computer networking, relational and NoSQL databases and her professional experience includes working as a software engineer and a technical support specialist for international IT corporations. She has also taught since 2019 and is a member of the FITNet research group on CTU, which explores theoretical concepts, architecture and computer network technologies.
