Insight into IT Operations with Alexandru Ureche from the Adecco Group

A large group of Computing students, both at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels, recently had the chance to learn firsthand from Alexandru Ureche, a prominent IT professional.

A Specialist in IT Operations and Cybersecurity

Alexandru was invited as a guest speaker for the School of Media & IT's Media Innovation and Technology Lecture Series (MITS) and has forged a successful career in Senior Project Management roles for technology projects in several multinational companies. Currently, he holds the position of Global Head of Command & Control Centre at the Adecco Group.

IT Support & Maintenance

During his MITS lecture, Alexandru spoke about IT Operations and Support, shedding light on the intricate workings of systems that often go unnoticed by users. He also delved into the crucial aspects of supporting an APP System and Service within an IT environment.

Student’s were impressed with the invaluable insights he shared that were critical in understanding the behind-the-scenes complexities of technology infrastructure.

Cybersecurity

The lecture also had a significant emphasis on cybersecurity due to the ongoing threat of attacks on systems, networks, and programs. For the individual, personal devices such as laptops and phones are facing a growing threat. This can be seen in the increasing number of security updates that Apple iPhones, for example, now require. On a larger scale, cyber attacks pose a critical risk to organisations as they can result in the loss or distribution of valuable information or become targets for extortion, massively disrupting regular business operations.

The lecture was organised by School of Media and IT lecturer Ahmet Vargelen and left a lasting impact on the students, inspiring them to excel with their own projects and workplace challenges as IT professionals.
