The Mystery of Mr W.S.

by Alex Went, on 08 April 2014 14:17:21 CEST

A special lecture for Shakespeare's 450th birthday - all welcome!

How did a sixteenth-century Englishman, who left behind no written manuscript and of whom there exists no certain portrait, gain the reputation of being the world’s greatest playwright?

How do we even know whether he was the author of the plays and poems that bear his name? And why does everybody, from journalists and politicians to writers and (especially) advertisers, still want a piece of him?

To celebrate the 450th anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare, Alex Went, Head of Communications at Prague College, investigates the man, his life, his writing and the critical reception.

A presentation by Prague College Humanities Society
