MSc vs. MBA
Q: What is the difference between an MSc and an MBA?
A: The difference between an MA/MSc and an MBA is quite a complex answer on today’s educational market.
The MA or MSc is generally considered the next step in education followed after a BA or Bachelor level education; it is the continuation of an academic cycle. It is there to prepare the student to become a master in a particular field, or create a more narrow specialty in general fields such as International Management.
Additionally, an MA/MSc does not require previous work experience; however many in the Prague College program do have extensive work experience and look to become better managers and specialists. The MA/MSc degree has a concentrated approach to the academics and in best situations can combine strong theory with practice and experience as we do at Prague College. At Prague College we make a point to add to our MSc complimentary programmes that will deliver the best parts of studying an MBA and deliver a highly practical aspect to the degree. Our lecturers are published academics as top business professionals brought in specifically for this programme, we offer the Master Speaker Series and Prague College has its own recognized research journal which allows Masters students the ability to publish their work.
On the other hand, an MBA traditionally should require a minimum of 5+ years of working experience as the main target is to focus on the experience of peer groups and strengthening the general business and management background of the participants. The underlying concept of an MBA is to re-experience the theory of a management or business education with the addition of the groups collective work experience as a basis for discussion and development. Students must really consider the quality of MBA programs that would accept students that do not possess the standard work experience that makes an MBA so valuable and if there is an interest in continued education students should be aware that not all MBA degrees are accepted as a Masters level of study.

Q: What does it cost to live in Prague?
A: Prague is an affordable city to live in comparison to comparable cities such as Vienna and Munich.
While cost of living depends in a large part on a student’s lifestyle, a shared flat can be found for as low as 6.000, CZK per month close to the center and cheaper further from the center.
Most restaurants offer discounted lunch menus of around 100, CZK and in most Czech pubs a dinner with drinks can be had for 150, CZK. Beer in the Czech Republic remains extremely cheap, while being considered some of the best in the world.

Work/Study
Q: As an international student, can I work in the Czech Republic while I study?
A: The answer is yes, it is possible to work in Czech Republic while studying.
The procedure and amount of time you can work however differ depending on the country you are coming from and the visa which you will have to stay in the Czech Republic. A student visa does not automatically allow for work/study conditions. In order to maintain student status for a student visa it is important to note that it is required to maintain a full-time student status.
In most situations it will be the responsibility of the company hiring you to help you acquire the appropriate documents for working legally in Czech Republic.
