Dedication, passion, fun

The people who make Prague College run

Prague College is full of people who are passionate about what they do.

Students, lecturers, administrators, our senior managers and founders are proud of the institution that has been built since 2004 through careful attention to quality of teaching and learning, and a dedication to working hard to achieve excellent results.

We have seen leaders emerge from everywhere in our organization, as people have risen to the challenges they see before them, and have been inspired to achieve success. That is why our organizational culture and atmosphere can often be experienced as informal, positive, friendly and focused on achieving good collaborative results.

Of course there is a formal structure underpinning this effort, which can be summarized as below:

Organizational Structure

A guide to how we operate

Senior Management Executive (SME)

The SME is led by the Director, who is the executive officer of Prague College and responsible for developing and implementing the strategic plan. The Deputy Director (Academics) has executive authority backing up the Director and is responsible for maintaining and developing the academic activities at Prague College.

The SME is responsible for oversight of academic initiatives, budgets, external relations & communications, priority & critical decisions, and development projects.

In addition, the Information Office is an independent unit that reports directly to the SME. The Information Office maintains the register of all approved statutes, policies and documents of Prague College.

The SME currently has two members, a Director and a Deputy Director.

Senior Management Group (SMG)

The SMG is formally an advisory body whose recommendations are enacted by the executive officer of Prague College (Director).

The SMG is comprised of the Director and Deputy Director(s), the Heads of the key academic units, and possibly other members of Prague College. One person, preferably though not necessarily a member of the SMG, is designated Secretary to the SMG and is formally responsible for the agenda.

The SMG is responsible to consider long-term strategy, as well as respond to immediate concerns. It formally represents the following 12 constituencies:

Executive, Academics, Finance, Operations & Administration, Information Technology, Strategic Communication, School of Business, School of Art & Design, School of Computing, Research Centre, Student Experience, Alumni & Engagement.

The SMG is organized around a number teams that consider strategic planning, advancement, external relationships, development (estate & resource), and the quality & performance of the institution. Specialist guests are invited to teams as needed to ensure that the SMG acts with full knowledge and advice.

The SMG currently has four members: the Director, Deputy Director, Head of the School of Business & Research Centre and the Head of the School of Art & Design

Senior Management Boards (SMB)

When Prague College is required to set new policies or respond to any issues, an SMB is constituted, comprised of available SMG members and invited guests.

Examples of SMB activities include the Scholarship Board, Discipline Boards, Public Statements and Complaints.

SMB decisions are implemented by the Director as the executive officer of the organization.

Academic Units

Prague College is organized around three Schools (faculties) and one Research Centre:

School of Business
School of Art & Design
School of IT & Computing
Prague College Research Centre

All academic organization, internal quality assurance processes, curriculum development and implementation of accreditation standards and criteria are managed by the Schools.

Two departments, an Academic Services and Student Services department, provide support for the Schools and Research Centre.

Schools are led by a Head of School, and where appropriate, an Associate Head. In the event that a Head of School position is vacant, then the Deputy Director (Academics) would convene a collegial team to carry out the functions of leadership.

Administration

The departments of administration and management at Prague College are organized as follows:

Administration

Operations

IT Services

Admissions

Communications

Student Services

Academic Services

Each department is organized as a Team, and in some cases, a Head is designated. Individual key roles may be designated as Manager, so as to help our external partners identify the decision making authority of the person they are working with.

Associations

Associations at Prague College include Student Council and the Alumni Association. The Student Council is also the umbrella structure for all clubs and societies that are formed through the shared interests of students, staff, and in some cases, external groups.

Associations are formally advisory bodies to the executive officer of Prague College (Director) and are structured so that their leaders report to a designate administrator for reasons of statutory requirements and oversight.
